A topical medicine e.g. a thixotropic ointment or gel containing an effective amount of indomethacin in a carrier which comprises a mixture of at least one polyalkyleneglycol and a polyethyleneglycol(C10-C14alkyl)- ether in an amount which is less than the amount of the polyalkyleneglycol.
