Abstract

The drive motor controlling the operation of a ventilation or air conditioning flap in a vehicle incorporates a protective device in its current supply path to prevent the danger of fire due to overheating. The device consists of a conductor wire wound into a helical shape on a cylindrical core (11), the coil being in two sections (37,38) with a central tapping carrying a tin block (33) which melts when overheated. The device is incorporated in the power supply line. The block is formed by hot dipping onto a part of the conductor bent into a hairpin shape, so that when melting occurs, the bend springs open to assist cutting off the supply, being released from two fixed contacts (42,43) between the contact ends (17,18).
