Abstract

An implantable pump for infusing or introducing drugs or other chemical products or solutions inside the body with a slow and uniform speed of flow. The pump comprises a casing which is divided into two chambers separated by a bellows, diaphragm or other precision communicating interface element. A volatile liquid which partially fills one chamber provides a constant pressurized energy source which acts on the interface element in order to force the infusion liquid from the other chamber, via a capillary tube or other resistant flow-regulating element, to the infusion point. The infusion chamber is closed by means of a puncture-type self-sealing filling obturator. The pump is implanted with the filling obturator arranged under the skin and it is filled periodically by means of injection through the skin.
