SE CALIENTA OXIDO DE FOSFINA A UNA TEMPERATURA DE 139 A 200<025>C EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR ACIDO Y SEPARANDO EL AGUA FORMADA DURANTE LA ETERIFICACION DE LA MEZCLA DE REACCION. AL OXIDO DE FOSFINA SE PUEDEN AÑADIR ALCOHOLES ALIFATICOS, CICLOALIFATICOS Y AROMATICOS CON UNO O MAS GRUPOS HIDROXILO Y DERIVADOS HALOGENADOS DE DICHOS ALCOHOLES, PARA FORMAR UN ETER DEL OXIDO DE FOSFINA CON EL ALCOHOL AÑADIDO. EL CATALIZADOR EMPLEADO ES ACIDO SULFURICO. EL OXIDO DE FOSFINA EMPLEADO ES OXIDO DE POLIHIDROXIALQUILFOSFINA, EL CUAL SE CALIENTA EN PRESENCIA DE UN ALCOHOL POLIFUNCIONAL. DESPUES DE LA REACCION, EL CATALIZADOR PUEDE DEJARSE EN LA MEZCLA O BIEN NEUTRALIZARSE CON HIDROXIDO SODICO. SE PUEDEN EMPLEAR NIVELES DE CATALIZADOR DE 0,5 A 10% (BASE MOLAR SOBRE OXIDO DE FOSFINA).
