Abstract

A process for the preparation of 11-(2'-substituted)acetyl- 5,11-dihydro-6H-pyrido[2,3-b][1,4]benzodiazepin-6-ones of the general formula I and of their pharmaceutically tolerable salts is given by preparation of the corresponding benzodiazepine N-oxides of the general formula II and reduction of the pyrido-N-oxide group to the pyrido group.
