Abstract

A device for generating energy from the wave motion of water bodies has a float which executes a lifting motion due to the wave motion. The float is connected to the movable part of a cylinder/piston arrangement which is constructed as a pump device for a liquid medium. The lifting movement of the float pressurises the liquid medium and, for example, feeds it to a dashpot or leads it into a reservoir at a higher level. The pressure in the dashpot, or the difference in height achieved in this way can be used to drive a turbine or other machines.
