CONSISTE EN HACER REACCIONAR EL METANOL FORMALDEHIDO Y UN PEROXIDO ORGANICO DE FORMULA GENERAL: R - O - O - R , EN LA QUE R Y R REPRESENTAN UN GRUPO ALQUILO O ARALQUILO, CON 3 A 13 ATOMOS DE CARBONO, EN UN MEDIO DE REACCION LIQUIDO. DICHA REACCION SE CARACTERIZA PORQUE LAS CANTIDADES TOTALES DE FORMALDEHIDO Y PEROXIDO SE VAN AÑADIENDO AL METANOL, EN PEQUEÑAS PORCIONES, AL OBJETO DE QUE SE VAYAN FORMANDO PROGRESIVAMENTE CANTIDADES DE ETILENGLICOL.
