Abstract

A filter apparatus having a plurality of filter elements is to be cleaned without interrupting the filter operation. The backwashing is to be carried out without foreign cleaning agents and the filter elements should simply be switchable to the cleaning operation. For this purpose, each filter element (13, 14, 15) is situated on the dirty side at an opening (16) to the slurry inlet chamber (3) and an opening (17) to the sludge chamber (8). Both openings (16, 17) can be alternately closed by means of a disc valve (21, 23 and 22, 24) in each case.
