Abstract
EP--90868 A Chromatographic determn. of glycosylated haemoglobins (I) in blood comprises (1) appln. of a blood haemolysate to a column of ion-exchange material; (2) elution of a first fraction, contg. (I), with a developer soln. and collection of the fraction; (3) elution of a second fraction, contg. the slower moving haemoglobins (II), with the same or a different developer soln. and collection of the fraction; (4) measurement of (I) in the first fraction and of (II) in the second fraction to give the ratio of (I) to (I) + (II). - Before appln. of the haemolysate to the column, a soln. of a separator compsn. contg. at least 1 ampholyte is applied to the column. - There is good sepn. between (I) and (II) when the separator compsn. is used, and the results are independent of temp. over the range 15-35 deg. C. The results are accurate and are useful in the monitoring of carbohydrate control in diabetic patients. (0/0)
