Abstract
The thioester of α-mercaptopropionylglycine with p-isobutylphenylpropionic acid has simultaneous anti- inflammatory and mucolytic properties. It is prepared by the reaction of a reactive derivative of p-isobutylphenyl- propionic acid and α-mercaptopropionylglycine at low temperature in a polar solvent. The salts with organic and inorganic bases, with basic amino acids and with basic antibiotics are stable and in general soluble in water, with the result that the active ingredient according to the invention can be formulated for oral, parenteral, rectal and topical administration.
