SE EFECTUAN LAS SIGUIENTES OPERACIONES: 1 ) PUESTA EN CONTACTO DE UN GAS DE TOSTACION CONTENIENDO SO<2, VAPOR DE AGUA Y MERCURIO CON ACIDO SULFURICO PARA PRODUCIR UN GAS SECO. 2 ) SOMETER A DICHO GAS SECO A OXIDACION CATALITICA PARA PRODUCIR UN GAS RICO EN SO<3. 3 ) PONER EL GAS OBTENIDO EN LA ETAPA ANTERIOR CON ACIDO SULFURICO CONCENTRADO. DESPUES DE EFECTUAR LA PRIMERA OPERACION, PERO ANTES DE LA TERCERA, SE PONE EL GAS EN CONTACTO CON UN AGENTE SULFATANTE PARA REBAJAR ADICIONALMENTE EL CONTENIDO DE MERCURIO EN EL GAS, DICHA OPERACION SE REALIZA DESPUES DE LA SEGUNDA OPERACION, EMPLEANDOSE COMO AGENTE SULFATANTE OLEUM.
