Abstract
The storage structure according to the invention relates to the storage of irradiated fuel elements extracted from nuclear reactors cooled and moderated with light water. This structure comprises at least two grids 2, 3, the holes of which are distributed hexagonally, these grids being arranged in parallel planes and maintained at a determined distance from one another by spacing means 6, 7. The grids forming this structure preferably consist of metal strips arranged on edge and shaped so that the holes 9, 10 of the grids have hexagonal contours. The storage structure applies in particular to the storage of irradiated fuels before reprocessing and makes it possible to reduce the volume occupied by these fuels.
