Pyrrole derivs. of formula Py-CO-CHCN-CO-NR-Ph and their tautomers, salts, lower alkyl enol ethers and lower alkanoyl enol esters are used as analgesics, esp. for treating rheumatic disorders: Py = 2- or 3-pyrrolyl which is not substd. in the 1 posn. but is opt. substd. in one or more of the 3 remaining posns. by lower alkyl, COOH, alkoxycarbonyl and/or halogen; R = H or lower alkyl; Ph = phenyl opt. substd. by 1-3 of lower alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsulphinyl, OH, halogen, CF3, NO2, NH2 and lower alkanoylamino.
