Abstract

In a vacuum furnace, an article is subjected to a heat treatment. The article passes via an inlet in a side wall of the furnace into the furnace interior, in which a receiving space for the article is situated. The article leaves the furnace through an outlet situated in another side wall of the furnace body. Arranged inside the furnace body with a spacing from one another is a number of transport rollers which transport the article from the inlet through the receiving space to the outlet. Situated below the transport rollers in the interior of the furnace body are heat-radiation surfaces. With the aid of lifting members, the article situated in the receiving space is lifted off the transport rollers. In the lifted state, the heat treatment takes place by the radiant heat radiated from the heat-radiation surfaces. The heat-treated article is then lowered onto the transport rollers again and leaves the furnace via the outlet.
