SE TRATA DE UN APARATO DE REGISTRO ELECTROMAGNETICO QUE EMPLEA ANTENAS DE RANURA LLENADAS CON UN MATERIAL DIELECTRICO, JUNTO CON ELEMENTOS DE SINTONIZACION PARA OBTENER UN FUNCIONAMIENTO MEJORADO. EL APARATO PUEDE UTILIZARSE PARA MEDIR LA CONSATANTE DIELECTRICA DE LAS FORMACIONES QUE RODEAN UN POZO DE SONDEO.
