Abstract

A seat for a standing support or a chair having the following characteristics: the seat support has an upper face; a hole is provided approximately in the centre of the upper face; at least two inwardly curved grooves are provided in the upper face at a regular distance around the hole; the grooves have a deepening in their centre and from there rise uniformly on both sides; the seat body carries a seat panel at its lower side; a threaded rod extends downwards from the seat panel through the hole in the upper face of the seat support; similarly curved grooves with deepenings and rising flanks, corresponding to the grooves of the upper face of the seat support, are provided in the bottom of the seat panel; balls are arranged captively between the grooves of the upper face of the seat support and the grooves of the seat panel; the threaded rod below the upper face of the seat support extends downwards through at least one disc, a thrust ball bearing, a further disc, a resilient element, a further disc, and is fixed there by a nut. <IMAGE>
