Abstract

The invention relates to a method for wetting a paper web for threading, in which method a threading strip of the paper web is wetted. The paper web is wetted by means of a wetting device 10 extending in the transverse direction of the web in an edge area of the web over the area assumed by the threading strip. The moisture in the threading strip area is increased to the desired level by the wetting device 10 and an essentially continuous, gently sloping reduction of the wetting level is formed by the wetting device 10 between the wetted area and the unwetted area. The invention also relates to a device for wetting a paper web for threading, which device comprises elements for wetting a threading strip of the paper web. The device 10 is a beam-shaped wetting device extending in the transverse direction of the web. The wetting device 10 comprises nozzles 12 for spraying wetting mist at a wetting area of the paper web and the quantity of wetting mist is adjustable zone by zone in order to produce an essentially continuous, gently sloping reduction of the wetting level between the wetted area and the unwetted area. <IMAGE>
