Abstract

Image created in heat sensitive recording layer by variations in its water permeability, caused by exposure to heat, is protected by transferring to its surface a hydrophilic colloid layer, stripped from a temporary carrier. Temporary layer is hydrophobic and the stripping layer of such composition that its bonding strength when moist in relation to its temporary carrier is lower than when dry. Pref. stripping-off layer is gelatine or modified gelatine forming a hydrophilic membrane, and may contain a hygroscopic compound and/or wetting agent and/or glycerol. Images recording layers, e.g. composed of hydrophilic colloids, are protected from mechanical damage and/or local or allover destruction.
