Furopyran derivs. with cytotoxic activity. Novel cpds. having th} partial structure:- (where R1 and R2 are H or opt. substd. hydrocarbyl) may be used for treating virus infections and neoplastic diseases, and may be prepd. from the corresp. beta-(3-furyl)- ethanol derivs. by treating with a dehydrating agent at 150 degrees C. Preferred products include 6',6'-dimethyl, 6'-methyl- and 6'-phenyl-5 beta,14 beta-6'H-androstano 16,1-2'-,3' furo 3", 2"-4', 5' pyran-3 beta, 14-diol.
