Abstract

In a process for fabricating plastic bags from a tubular element whose one end is first closed to form a handle and the other end is closed after filling with the material to be packaged, the two longitudinal edges of a reinforcing strip are welded to the edges of one end of the bag, forming an opening being folded over the end, the strip and the bag walls then having an oblong hand-hold cut out. The edges of the bag to receive the reinforcing strip are pref. folded back to form a hem. The top of strip may usefully have a line of weakness and the welds between the strip and the walls are pref. spaced. A tightly closed bag which can be opened at the handle end and reused is provided.
