Abstract

A common motor drives two pref. parallel, horizontal shafts which each drive associated vertical shafts via gearing, one vertical shaft drawing the spindle of each spinning unit pref via a drive belt, and the other vertical shaft driving the flyer. pref. via a drive belt. Pref. each shaft is drivingly connected to a gp. of four spinning units by a drive belt, the last unit in the gp. being connected by another drive belt to an adjacent gp. of four spinning units. The mechanism operates quickly at high speed. The drive for the spindles and flyers is separated facilitating doffing of the bobbin.
