Abstract

While layers of thermoplastic sheet are fused together between a matched pair of high frequency welding jaws, the surplus material is cut off by a knife descending over the sides of the jaws which face the welded object, to separate the roll of melt pressed from the jaw nip from the material still held in the nip so that the roll sets up as part of the final seam. No further trimming is required.
