Abstract

Machine is intended for the packing of leaf spinach, either in cans or bags; the latter form is now widely employed for the sale of deep frozen products. It consists of a turntable with a number of spaces all situated at the same distance from the axis, around which it turns. One of the spaces is brought opposite a feeding orifice which distributes the product by means of an endless screw. When the space is full a plug is forced backwards, an electric circuit is completed and the turntable advances one step. When the space is filled a disc saw is interposed between the filling orifice and the filled space. The latter is next presented between the open end of a can and the face of a piston which pushes the product into the can. A further movement brings the filled can before a conveyor which takes it to the storage area. The machine does not damage the leaves and the amount fed into each container can be controlled exactly.
