Abstract

Moulded coke from coals having 35% volatiles and >50% inert to coking (e.g. fusinite, inertinite, oxynite), contains also, as cokable ingredients coals, pitch, petroleum coke and/or bitumens, and the blend is briquetted with an organic binder (e.g. pitch, tars, bitumens, molasses, starch vegetable gum or bisulphite liquor). In an example, briquettes were made from 55-95% coal (>50% being uncokeable) 0-15% pitch, 0-30% bitumen, molasses etc. and the blend coked.
