Abstract

The compsn. consist of an elastomeric material in which an organo-phobic fluoro compound (F) is dispersed. (F) pref. comprises at least one of the following (1) Perfluoro ester of acrylic or an alkyl acrylic acid or a polymer of this, (2) perfluorolauric acid, (3) perfluorostearic acid, (4) perfluoro ether of formula (in which n is 1 to 6), (5) perfluoro alcohol. The preferred amount of (F) is 0.1 to 10% of the rubber, and most synthetic rubber types may be used. The compns. are not readily wetted by printing ink, most of which remains on the band carrying the ink or on the printed article. Swelling of the rubber by the ink vehicle is reduced. Uses are in data processing machines where punched cards are transported very quickly by rubber covered rollers during printing, and in typewriter rolls.
