Abstract
The plating bath comprises (a) one or more solid/liquid paraffins together with one or more aromatics or cycloparaffins from benzene, toluene, oxylene, m- or p-xylene, 1.2.3-, 1.24- or 1.35-trimethylbenzene, ethylbenzene, n-propylbenzene, cumene, cyclohexane, -heptane or -octane, (b) one or more ethers from anisol, phenetol, THF, diethyl-, ethyl-n-butyl-, di-n-propyl or diphenyl-ether, in the vol. ratio a:b of 0.1 to 5:1, (c) solute based on aluminium chloride or lithium aluminium hydride, and (d) a conductive cylinder placed in the bath. The steel plates etc. are given adherent coatings, resistant to atmos. corrosion using a high current density process adaptable for industrial scale use.
