Abstract
Chloracetic acid-1,2,5,6-tetrahydrobenzylamides of formula (I) where R = 1-4C alkyl and n = 0, 1 or 2. are strong selective herbicides prepd. by reaction of 1,2,5,6-tetrahydrobenzylamines (II) with chloracetyl chloride (III) in the presence of an acid binding agent in a solvent or alternatively by reaction of II-HCl with (III) without an acid binding agent. For use as a herbicide it is formulated with a carrier and surfactants. Suitable acid binding agents are tert. amines or Na, K or Ca carbonates.
