Abstract

A liquid filter, pref. for swimming bath water, employing an inverted truncated cone mesh retaining diatomaceous filtrant. Raw liquid debouches to the interior of the cone creating the turbulence carrying the filtrant up the slant walls of the cone generating an even surface coating. The base of the cone carries smaller perforations than the peripheral walls minimising build-up of large base throughput currents with the attraction of filtrant to the base area denuding the upper extremities of the mesh. The filter presents a large uniform surface area to the raw liquid.
