Abstract

An axial airstream introduced counter current wise into the cooling zone of a flat glass processing furance is delfected away from the furnace chamber, after passage through the cooling section, through slots along the walls and ceiling. This prevents the deposition of grit particles from the airstream onto the soft glass in the heating and treating zones. Deflection is effected by baffles fitted into the furnace.
