Abstract

Diguanides are prepd. by reacting salts of amidinothiourea and inorganic acids (pref. hydrochlorides) with ammonia and its inorganic salts, in aqs. soln. in the presence of lead oxide or mercuric oxide at 40-70 degrees C. High yields are obtained. Product is not contaminated with toxic alkyl mercaptans.
