Abstract

Paraffinic, olefinic and/or aromatic hydrocarbons contg. at least a trace of an impurity consisting of O, CO, an acetylene or an alkene, are purified by contacting with a complex of an alkanolamine with a cuprous salt. Used for purifying hydrocarbons before subsequent use in a catalytic reaction, especially for purifying olefins before catalytic conversion into plastics, rubbers, solvents and other products.
