Abstract

Fibres reinforced thermoplastic plates or sheets are produced by mixing the powdered thermoplastic material and the fibrous material on a conveyor belt, passing the belt through a heating zone in which the thermoplastic material is plasticised and shaped under pressure, and cooling the formed plate or sheet. The plates/sheets are used for constructional purposes, esp. in the furniture and automobile industries. The plates/sheets have a good solidity and excellent surface properties. The process is carried out continuously at low cost.
