Abstract

4-Methyl-5- ethyl-N-heterocyclic thiazoles - with antianoxic activity. Cpds. of formula: (where R is H, Me, Et or C6H5; Z is a nitrogen heterocycle connected via the N-atom, esp. morpholine, 2,6dimethylmorpholine, N-(2-aminoethyl)morpholine, imidazole, pyridazole, piperidine, pyrrodlidine, phthalimide, 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline, 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-methylquinoline or N-methylpiperazine). The cpds. and their salts are anti-anoxic agents useful in treating ischaemic, and also have antipyretic and central anticholinergic activity. Cpds. are used at a daily dosage of 200-600 mg. Prepd. by treating the alpha-chloroethylthiazoles with appropriate N-heterocyclic cpds.
