Abstract
Refractory cement comprises calcium aluminate with a CaO:Al2O3 ratio between 30:70 and 70:30 and an addition chosen from oxides intrides or carbides of Ti, Be, Zr, V, B, Cr and Vb. The cement can be used either as a hydraulic or as a refractory cement. Due to low melting eutectics these compounds form a ceramic at a low temperature but have a high refractory properties under load and improved thermal shock resistance compound with unmodified calcium aluminates.
