Abstract

Fibrous suspensions used in papermaking, are purified in vortex separator comprising tangential inlet and coaxial outlet for purified liquid at one end, and a dirt outlet at the other, narrower end. A thin external washing nozzle, pointing inwards inr everse direction towards the dirt outlet, sweeps out fibres from the centre of the dirt stream, thereby improving the separating efficiency.
