Abstract

Casting of connectin lugs or easrs of battery plates to a connecting strip is effected by allowing a liquid to float on a bath of molten lead alloy or molten solder, while the battery plates are aligned and clamped together by a temporary assembly device. The lugs of the plate are immersed in the molten metal alloy or solder through the liquid and are brought into the surface of the connecting strip while this is being cast and is still molten and maintained in this position until the plates have fused to the solidified strip.
