Abstract

A hot gas generator using a solid propellant, particularly for a rocket motor, has a block of solid propellant placed coaxially in a combustion chamber and provided with a bundle of channels parallel to the axis of the block and traversing it from one side to the other, together with a bundle of inhibiting rods of non-combustible material sunk in the block between the channels. The channels and rods may usefull be arranged staggered in alternate rows. A perforated plate of incombustible material e.g. of metal is preferably provided with its perforations coinciding with the channels and attached to the downstream side of the block. The inhibiting rods may be of epoxide resin. A high, constant output of hot gas without peak pressures is obtained using a small, simply constructed device.
