Abstract

Polymeric binder for image receiving layers for the diffusion transfer of photographic silver images consists of (I) sulphonated polystyrene or one of its salts, and (II) polyvinyl alcohol, 5% esterified. The polymeric binder provides neutral or black images by diffusion transfer. The binder gives a water resistant layer on a paper base, so that stains caused by the treating chemicals are greatly reduced. (The binder pref. contains 50-95% wt. polyvinyl alcohol. The mol.wt. of the sulphonated polystyrene is 1000-100,000).
