Abstract

In a process for fabricating sandals with strap uppers let into an injection moulded sole beneath the undersole, an undersole is used overlapping the mould over the whole of the perimeter, slots are cut in it allowing the ends of the straps to pass through in selected positions and the sole is then injection moulded from plastic material. The undersole may be moulded to a correct contour in a thermoplastic material, and subsequently the whole of the overlapping edge may be cut off. The positions or dimensions of the straps may be varied without altering the mould.
