Abstract

The electrolyte is prepared by adding an organic, gelling substance to a salt solution. The gelling substance consists of cross-linked starch, so that the swelling of the starch grains in aq. solutions is reduced and stabilised. The salt soln. is one of zinc chloride which contains no ammonium chloride. Specif. the electrolyte consists of a zinc chloride soln. in water containing 300-900 g. zinc chloride per litre. The quantity of cross-linked starch is between 200 and 600 g/l.
