Abstract

The rods are suspended vertically from a common shaft along which they are freely movable as the yarn passes between the rods in a sinuous path and around an exit roller mounted on a counter-balanced lever. If the yarn tension changes the lever pivots, moving the exit roller and changing the path of the yarn through the rods. As the yarn path changes the yarn itself acts to vary the separation of the rods and so control the yarn tension to remain constant. The tensioner is used with let-off devices e.g. of warping machines.
