Abstract

Line insulator is formed from a stack of identical insulator elements each comprising a cylindrical stem having a surrounding annular shed, the lower end of each element being provided with an annular seat which locates on the upper end of the stem of the adjacent lower element. The elements are moulded from an epoxy resin, pref. a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin containing SiO2 filler, and the elements are secured together by an adhesive pref. comprising the same epoxy resin. Metal connector caps may be secured to each end of the insulator by epoxy resin adhesive. The insulator has a high mechanical strength and is simple and economic to produce.
