Abstract

A main drive shaft extends along a line of e.g. rig and traveller spinning devices on a spinning frame and the spindles of gps. of spinning devices are driven by a drive belt which passes around pulley spindles at the base of the spindles and around two axially separated drive pulleys connected directly to the drive shaft. The belt doesn't pass around more than two spindle pulleys without passing around a guide pulley or a tensioning pulley, and guide rollers (pref. 2) are provided at each drive pulley to turn the belt through 90 degrees as it passes to and leaves the drive pulley so that the belt lies flat on the surface of the drive pulley. Pref the belt has a 90 degrees lap around the spindle pulleys and a lap of 180 degrees around the drive pulleys. The device in compact and on a double faced spinning frames allows a centre pathway to be left down the centre of the frame to provide ascess to operators for cleaning.
