1439345 Lighting fittings CERBERUS AG 3 Oct 1973 [3 Oct 1972] 46192/73 Heading F4R A signal lamp device includes a generally axially symmetrical casing, having at least the front portion 3 thereof transparent, which is formed of two similar half-shells 1, 2 which encompass a generally axially symmetrical lamp 10 so that the meeting surfaces 4 between the two half-shells 1, 2 extend in a plane containing the axis of symmetry of the lamp 10. The entire casing may be formed of transparent plastics material with appropriate inner surfaces thereof lacquered and the casing front 3 may, as shown, be a truncated cone having annular ridges, or may be half-spherical, flat or pyramidal. The half-shells 1, 2 may be mirror symmetrical and each may have a U- shaped slot 13 defining outwardly projecting locating tongues 14 and a keying projection 15 for the device. The base 5 of the shells is slotted to receive contact members 6 and an integral projection 9 on the base increases the leakage path between the contacts 6. The lamp 10 may be an incandescent lamp or a gas-discharge lamp, in the latter event a current limiting resistor 8 being provided in a cylindrical recess 7 also formed at the base of the casing. When assembling the device, a sub-assembly comprising the lamp 10, contact members 6 and resistor 8 is first produced and then inserted in one of the half-shells. The two half-shells are then secured together by adhesives or by welding, e.g. ultrasonic welding.
