L'invention décrit un appareil destiné à la mémorisation d'images, comprenant un couple photoconducteur-cristal liquide, caractérisé en ce que le cristal liquide est du type smectique-A. Un tel appareil possède des avantages importants en ce qui concerne la durée de l'effet mémoire, la résolution et la stabilité du couple photoconducteur-cristal liquide. Applications : écrans de visualisation.
