Abstract

Composition utilisable comme matériau pour former des lentilles de contact hydrophiles souples. Elle est constituée d'une majeure partie d'acrylate ou de méthacrylate d'hydroxyalkyle, entre 0,01% et 0,25 % d'un diester de réticulation renfermant des groupes acryliques ou méthacryliques n'ayant pas de groupes hydrophiles libres et entre environ 0,5 et 10 % d'un acide éthylénique libre, tel que l'acide acrylique ou l'acide méthacrylique. On la polymérise à l'état non aqueux pour former un terpolymère rigide dont les propriétés physiques dépendent de la concentration en diester. On peut façonner des lentilles de contact en utilisant les techniques d'abrasion classiques à partir du terpolymère non hydrate. Après hydratation, la concentration en eau du terpolymère est déterminée par la concentration en acide libre de la composition de départ.
