Abstract

Suivant ce procédé pour préparer des fibres de verre, une telle fibre est chauffée localement à l'aide d'un fil résistant, et est réfléchie sur un angle défini d'avance; une empreinte du fil est formée sur la fibre qui, par refroidissement subséquent, est fixée dans l'état fléchi. Du fait d'exercer ensuite sur la fibre une faible force de traction, on engendre dans la fibre une tension qui décroît suivant la section transversale de la fibre qui de la sorte se rompt au niveau de l'empreinte. Application : préparation des fibres optiques.
