Abstract

La cellule de cristal liquide nématique a ses faces munies, chacune, d'électrodes présentant des bandes parallèles conductrices et des bandes isolantes, la direction d'alignement des axes des molécules du cristal liquide au contact de chaque électrode, étant non uniforme et différente en regard des bandes conductrices et des bandes isolantes Lorsqu'un champ électrique est appliqué entre les électrodes des deux faces, le basculement de toutes les molécules au contact d'une même électrode, s'effectue dans un même sens qui est celui qui est induit par l'obliquité des axes des molécules en regard des bandes isolantes par rapport à ceux en regard des bandes conductrices, supprimant ainsi l'apparition de discontinuités optiques qui se produisent généralement en l'absence de ladite obliquité. Application : affichage d'informations.
