Abstract

La présente invention concerne le domaine des additifs pour compositions lubrifiantes. Le polymère d'éthylène, de préférence un polymère d'éthylène degradé mécaniquement et par oxydation, comprend 26 à 79 % en poids (35 à 85 moles %) d'éthylène, une alpha -oléfine supérieure en C3 -C18 et environ 1 à 25 % en poids d'un alkylnorbornène en C8 -C28 , de préférence l'éthylnorbornène. Ce polymère peut être utilisé comme agent d'amélioration de l'indice de viscosité dans les compositions lubrifiantes contenant une partie principale d'huile lubrifiante, ledit polymère en quantité suffisante pour l'amélioration de l'indice de viscosité et de préférence au moins un agent d'abaissement du point d'écoulement, de façon à conférer des propriétés viscosimétriques supérieures, à basse température, à cette composition lubrifiante.
