Abstract
La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation de fils ou fibres de matières plastiques, en particulier à partir de polymères de haut point de fusion, ou non fusibles, ou à partir de polymères difficilement solubles, ou insolubles, tels que le polytétrafluoroéthylène, selon lequel on met en rotation une masse moulée cylindrique de matière synthétique au contact d'un dispositif d'incision présentant un certain nombre de dents d'incision, et au contact d'une rade disposée en aval dudit dispositif d'incision, dans la direction de rotation, et on enlève un ruban de fils parallèles, qu'on étire en chauffant. Selon ce procédé, on retord les fils et on les étire dans un bain de métal fondu, en particulier d'étain, maintenu à une température de 300 à 380 degrés C, de préférence en deux étapes, en dissolvant le métal résiduel par de l'acide. Les fils ainsi obtenus presentent une résistance plus élevée.
